  • The Image Editor is a Flash-based pop-up window that provides full access to your image library and lightbox collections within a flexible UI that allows for keyboard commands and drag-and-drop functionality.

  • Depending on the user permissions you have, the following tools are available in the Image Editor:

Edit

Image Editor

  • Double click an image thumbnail in the Library to launch the Image Editor.

Thumbnail Strip, Compare View, Grid View

  • The images from the Library view will appear in the Image Editor's thumbnail strip at the bottom of the page.

  • The folder path and the number of images displayed is located in the upper left corner of the Image Editor.

  • Hovering your cursor over a thumbnail will display the filename.

  • To compare images, change the View icon to 2-up or 4-up, and drag and drop the images from the thumbnail strip into the different panels.

  • The displayed edit rating is associated with the image that is highlighted in white.

  • Click the Grid View' icon to have the images appear as thumbnails in the middle of the page.

Keyboard Commands

  • Keyboard commands / shortcuts are available in the Image Editor.

  • Press the Keyboard icon located at the top of the Image Editor to view the keyboard commands.

      • SHIFT+M: Switch view to Metadata Editor
      • SHIFT+K: Switch view to Markup Editor
      • SHIFT+C: Switch view to Contact Sheet

    • Image Ratings:
      • S: Select
      • Y: Approve
      • A: Alt
      • X: Kill
      • 1 - 5: Set Plus/Star Rating
      • 0: Clear Plus/Star Rating
      • Left Arrow: Previous Image
      • Right Arrow: Next Image

Edit

Zoom

  • Click the Zoom magnifying glass icon to open the loupe/zoom tool in a new window.

  • Slide the scroll bar to zoom in or out on the high res image, and move the red box on the preview icon to specify your desired view.

  • Click on the Current Asset Version drop down menu to choose other versions of the asset file to use the zoom tool on.

Print PDF

  • Click the Printer icon in the top toolbar to save the image as a .pdf proof to your local machine.

Download File / Version

  • View available file versions to download by clicking on the Disk icon in the top toolbar.

  • Click the disk icon next to the file you want to download.

  • Click on the Gear icon to generate a custom file type.

  • Specify your desired file dimensions, and click Submit.

Bookmarks

  • Click on the Bookmarks icon to save your photo editing session. This will allow you to save your place and return at a later time to where you left off.

  • Specify a name for your Boookmark, and click the Save button.

Filter, Sort, and Send to:

  • The images can be filtered and sorted by edit rating using the drop down menu's to the right of the thumbnail strip.

  • Images in the thumbnail strip can be sent as an entire collection to a lightbox or the cart using the drop down Send to menu to the right of the thumbnail strip.

Image Ratings

Image
  • Each image has all or a combination of the following options:
    • IMAGE RATINGS
      • Select
      • Alt
      • Approve
      • Kill
      • Star Ratings - these are also known as plus ratings.
      • Flag - this is the only non-collaborative image rating. Only you will be able to see the flags you make.
    • "Send to..." - use this drop down to send the image to a new or existing Lightbox.
    • Notes - use the given box to write and save notes for the image. Saved notes are available for all users to see.

Metadata Editor

  • The Metadata Editor allows you to view and edit the metadata of your images in GLOBALedit.

  • GLOBALedit reads and displays metadata stamped on an asset prior to being uploaded on GLOBALedit, and will stamp the file with metadata once it is downloaded or archived from the system.

  • Metadata fields are used as search criteria within the Search tab.

  • Choose the Metadata Editor from the Select a Tool drop-down menu.

  • Click a single image to view the metadata associated with it in the right hand panel.

  • The Metadata Editor displays one schema at a time. Use the Current Schema drop down menu to view or change the different metadata schemas available. Image
  • Press the Save button after you have edited or added any metadata. If you click to a different area, the system will warn you of unsaved changes. You can choose to Always Save without Asking, which will always save your changes without prompting.

  • The Edit drop-down menu features several options:
    • Undo Save - undo most recent Save
    • Copy Current Record - choose metadata fields from current view to copy to clipboard
    • Paste - paste copied metadata fields
    • Show Last Update - show history of metadata changes (most recent update shown)
    • Export data for current collection to CSV - export metadata report in CSV format
    • Warn me about unsaved changes - option for prompt when there are unsaved changes

  • To select multiple images at a time Shift+click, Command+click, or use the Select All option in the upper right corner.

Edit

Contact Sheets

  • The Contact Sheet Generator allows you to automatically create custom, print-ready PDF contact sheets of your images.

  • Select a lightbox in the Image Editor and then select the Contact Sheets under the Tools drop-down menu in the top righthand corner.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to customize the format and layout of your contact sheet.
  • Options are:
    • Number of rows and columns
    • Page numbering format
    • Captioning
    • Header / footer text and position
    • Contact sheet filename (required)

  • After you have selected your options, click Create Contact Sheet. Click the Downloads link to view the status of your contact sheet and to download when it's ready.

  • You will receive an email once your contact sheets are available for download.

Rights Editor

  • The Rights Editor allows download permission to explicitly set for each image on GLOBALedit.
  • The Rights Editor is available to users with Rights Manager user permission.
  • Restrictions rules are specified and go into affect after an assigned date has past.

  • Select the Rights Editor from the Current Tool drop-down.

Assign Permissions

  • Rights Permissions can be set for a single image or a group of images at one time.
  • Asset Rights or Watermarks that are set will be applied to all non-admin users in the account, and to all users in other accounts. Admin users will have full download access and no watermarks on assets that belong to their account.
    • To select multiple images use the SHIFT+click, CTRL+click, or the Select all button to highlight the images you want to set.
  • Enter the Restriction Date using the calendar field. The restriction rule will go into effect after this date has passed.

  • Click on the restriction rule so that it is highlighted in yellow. The available restriction rules are:
    • Restrict All Downloads
    • Restrict Downloads, Except LowRes Preview
    • Watermark Images (checkbox)
  • Press Save.

View, Modify, Remove Permissions

  • Selecting an Image will show if any restrictions have been previously set.

  • Modify the the restriction level by clicking Clear next to the date field and change the Restriction Level. Press Save for the changes to be in effect.

Markup Editor

  • The Markup Editor allows you to markup images using full color palette pen markups and call-out text annotations. You can save and email these markups for edit, retouching, and layout purposes.

  • Select the Markup Editor from the Select a Tool drop-down menu.

  • Use the pan tool (symbolized by the hand) to move the image around. Use with the zoom function to focus on specific areas of your image.

  • Use the note tool (symbolized by the "T") to create call-out text annotations. Click and drag to bring up a new text box. You can specify font size, type, and color. Click Save once you are finished to save the note.

  • Use the Markup pen tool (symbolized by the pen) to draw markups on your image. You can specify the stroke and the color.

  • Click + Add Layer to make markups on different layers. You can manage your layers within the Layers box. You can turn markups within layers "On" or "Off", or delete them by clicking the "X". You can also delete an entire layer by clicking the "X" next to it.

  • Click Save Markup Session to save your markup for later. A saved markup is privately saved and viewed by the user.

  • Click the Email Markup button to share markup notes. Type in addresses or use the address book. You can also include notes if desired.
