Metadata can be accessed in Globaledit by accessing the Metadata Viewer. Within the Metadata Viewer, Industry Standard schemas can be selected to view and edit their XMP Fields.
Metadata can also be imported or added manually onto an asset or a group of assets via an Industry Standard or Custom Schema or Master Schema.
A Master Schema can be created by combining XMP Fields from Industry Standard and/or Custom Schemas.
Metadata is searchable within Search and can be exported with Stamp Metadata upon asset download.
View and Add Metadata
Begin by selecting the Metadata viewer button located within the Library
Select an asset or a group of assets, then select the schema, for example: Dublin Core
Once a schema has been selected, its Display Names (or XMP fields) will become visible allowing for information (or values) to be input into the text or date fields next to them.
Click Save afterwards to enrich the asset(s) with the inputted information.
Tip: Saved metadata will apply to all assets whenever they have been selected in bulk.
Search Metadata Fields
Assets that contain Metadata can be searched in Globaledit.
Navigate to the Search area of the Library by selecting the search bar. If Search is accessed via the Workspace area of the Library, generating a search will focus on assets that are within Workspace folders. If Search is accessed via the Collections area of the Library, generating a search will focus on assets that are within the Collection folders.
or
Once the Search interface appears, metadata values can be typed directly into the search bar.
The search results will contain not only assets that match the metadata value text, but may also include assets in which the filename includes the same text. In this case, it is more efficient to create a metadata chip(s).
OR, select the Metadata chip, to pinpoint specific Metadata schemas and/or xmp fields.
Then select the dropdown arrow next to Select Schema and Field
To search across multiple metadata schemas, select All Metadata.
To search a specific metadata schema, select the metadata schema item that begins with a "M:" For example, if we wanted to search only within the Dublin Core schema, we would select,
M: Dublin Core
Pinpoint and select a specific Schema's Display Name (XMP Field) by scrolling to it or typing it within the schema search field
Once a schema or one if its display name's has been selected, users will now type in the metadata value to complete the metadata chip's creation
The dropdown field will appear by default for xmp fields that are a text field type.
The -Select- dropdown will allow users to choose from "contains" or "does not contain". This logic applies toward the metadata value that will be entered. "Contains" refers to the metadata value allowing search to locate the assets that match. "Does not contain" refers to the metadata value allowing search to ignore assets that match.
A blank text field will then appear for users to type in the metadata value that is associated with that respected xmp field.
Once the value(s) have been entered, click Save to create the metadata chip.
Tip: the values entered within the text field are not case sensitive
The Search interface will now update to include the recently created chip.
Pressing the return key on the keyboard of selecting the enter button will generate the search to reveal assets that contain the metadata value(s).
Multiple Metadata chip can be created to refine the results, allowing you to pinpoint specific assets.
Use Match Any or All to manipulate how search interprets the use of multiple chips.
Match Any - assets that meet any 1 of the search criteria
Match All - assets that meet all search criteria
